I’d rather have an *honest hurtful truth,
Then build upon a so called pleasing lie.
I need – without exception – to be sincere with you,
Else I just can’t look you in the eye.
*in opposition, dishonest truth is something that is not a lie itself, but is an hesitation – another available truth – distracting from the expected truth, which often is as obvious as that saying: “the elephant in the room”. Of-course perception has a great part in all this on many accounts. To name few: some might wrongly think they’re not being told the truth; some might still not agree and see this only in an utilitarian vs absolute perspective; and some might miss-understand it altogether.
Ps. This does not go against focusing on the “filled part of the glass” .. it just says that it’s not ok to deny the gap in the glass.. we grow and empathize by being aware of it. There’s so much more to say about this.
